quantum mechanics

Today something reminded me, once again, how fascinated I am by people, who excel in a specific field and this field is completely different from everything I have studied or tried so far. The more chemistry, physics or computers one person is dealing with, the more curious and fascinated I am.

The most interesting experience of this kind I had when I was photographing for my MA project, Dr. Professor Sandu Popescu  from University of Bristol, UK. He is one of the world's foremost experts in the field of Quantum Information theory, and also in the foundations of quantum mechanics. Dr. Popescu worked on many  aspects of quantum theory, ranging from the very fundamental, to designing practical experiments such as the first quantum teleportation experiment, that took place on 4th of July 1997.

Why I was photographing him? Because professor Sandu Popescu is born in Oradea, Romania and he is one of the Romanians - positive examples, as this is how I started my project Mother Romania.
To go in the laboratories of the University with his guidance was one of the most  interesting experience and day of my life so far...

Bubu and Minerva Bar

Dogs at Minerva have a special status...
My whole family loves dogs and we have a few. In the back of the bar is always one around.
But the smartest dog is Bubu. He holds the role of the family's protector. Bubu, normally, is not allowed in the bar with the clients, only when I take pictures he comes along. He is always behind me or next to me, therefore almost never in the frame. If anybody comes really close to me, he starts to bark and bite, he is the most crazy dog we have ever had. Or, I would rather say he is the sensitive one, as he has seen the light from the end of the tunnel : ). He was poisoned twice, every time he recovered but he became stranger, more possessive and attached to us...
I realize that none of the photos taken in the bar are without Bubu behind or next to me.

My two "protectors" inside the Bar: my uncle and Bubu

While my aunt is waiting for clients, Bubu gets the honor to sit on the chair

back to Calarasi

Here it is a place, where I could take only a few pictures and for the rest I could just look around...

with a green guitar

My brother has been studying guitar for many years now but he never liked it as he does  in the last months. He knows how to play guitar while I know to play around it and with it. He is much younger than me but much too serious for me....

Cati

Does everybody have a place to hide? I do. Mine is on a terrace, above my family's bar, Minerva. While I was at home I was invaded by my younger sister with her presence and her lots of questions. As it was a nice autumn evening, I escaped from the interrogation by taking pictures of her. Here she is, Catrinel, or Cati, who is a choreographer and Alex, her partner. They started by stretching their bodies and then they played around with me.

Morning and Night

Two photos and people, who are very different, photographed in two parts of Romania very far away from each other. Loredana is 15 and she is only now going to High School from September. She lives in Lungani village, close to Iasi. I was having a coffee with her one morning. Traian is a writer and he was telling stories, close to midnight in Vama Veche, at the Black Sea.

the colorful world of my uncle

I don't have too many words for this. Just a colorful world full of metal and flowers in which I like to be included as I love them all, plus the person who owns them. No wonder people say we are alike.
